Professor Oren earned a B.A. in Middle Eastern studies from Tel-Aviv University, an M.A. in Political Science from New York University, and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Chicago. Professor Oren is the current Vice President of the International Studies Association and in 2004 he served as President of the Association's Southern region. His book, Our Enemies and US: America's Rivalries and the Making of Political Science, was published by Cornell University Press; a Chinese translation was published by the Shanghai People's Press. Oren has lectured in Germany, China, Japan, and Denmark. In Summer 2007 he was a Visiting Associate Professor of Political Science at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan.

Professor Hozic holds degrees from the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (B.A. in Philosophy), SAIS Bologna Center—The Johns Hopkins University (M.A. in International Affairs), and the University of Virgina (Ph.D. in Political Science). She is the author of Hollyworld: Space, Power and Fantasy the American Economy (Cornell University Press, 2001) and numerous articles on politics and representation of violence in the Balkans. A recipient of MacArthur, IREX, Fulbright and other grants, Professor Hozic has also taught at Bogazici University in Istanbul, the University of Sarajevo, and the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary.

Richard Nolan has been teaching at the University of Florida since he graduated with his Ph.D. here in 1994. He regularly teaches the International Relations, U.S. and World Affairs, and Making American Foreign Policy. Moreover, he also teaches Theories of International Relations, International Security, and International Institutions. He serves as the faculty advisor for the University of Florida Model United Nations and is an affiliate faculty with the University of Florida Center for European Studies. He is currently an instructor with the University of Florida Department of Continuing Education. Dr. Nolan's specific research interests include learning and leadership in foreign policy and public attitudes toward European integration.

Ms. Wallen is the Senior Office Manager for the Department of Political Science. She has been employed at the University of Florida since 1989 and has extensive experience with UF financial and accounting standards, travel planning and processing of claims, event planning and scheduling, and conference organization.

Nicola Kernaghan
Institute Evaluator
Born in Ireland, Nicola Kernaghan currently works at the
University of Florida as a Program Manager for the International Center
and Coordinator for Program Evaluation at the Center for International
Business Education and Research (CIBER). Ms. Kernaghan is responsible
for program evaluation for both organizations and she has over four
years of experience assessing the effectiveness of federally-funded
activities. Additionally, Ms. Kernaghan is a PhD student at the
University of Florida's College of Education. She specializes in
Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis on global studies and
evaluation.
Mr. Chris
O'Leary
Junior Program Assistant
Mr. O’Leary enrolled in the University of Florida after spending five years as a Military Police officer and criminal investigator in the United States Army. He recently received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with an emphasis in international relations and is preparing to begin classes at the University of Chicago’s Masters in International Relations program this fall. Mr. O’Leary’s particular interests lie in issues of state sovereignty as well as international cooperation and security.

Paulina Rippere is originally from Key West, Florida. She earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Central Florida in 2006. Currently, she is in her second year in the PhD program in the Department of Political Science at the University of Florida. Her fields of study are American Politics, Political Behavior, and Comparative Politics, with a primary focus on Congress and political parties.
